Fabrication of high efficient electrodes based in sub-oxides coatings obtained by Thermal Spray

Description of the technology

The main purpose of this technology is the know-how transfer of the fabrication of electrodes for bipolar or redox flow batteries in an industrial scale. It is used Thermal Spraying Technology for depositing the starting material onto the target substrate.

Innovative aspects

The obtained ceramic coating on the substrate has a triple effect: i) catalyze the redox pair reactions, ii) slow down oxygen and hydrogen evolution, leading to an increase in the operation window and iii) use a ceramic material with a high corrosion resistance and an enhanced electrical conductivity. The obtained results improve commercial standards.
