Last 28th of October was sucessfully celebrated the symposium on Thermal Spray Technology developed by the Thermal Spray Center (CPT) of the University of Barcelona and the Ceramics Technology Institute (ITC-UJI) of the University Jaume I. This event, moderated by the CPT Director Dr. Irene García Cano, adressed several of the last progresses and advances on thermal spray.
Our Technical Manager Dr. Sergi Dosta participated as keynote speaker with a paper entitled Recubrimientos biocidas obtenidos mediante proyección térmica (Biocide coatings obtained through thermal spray), explaining about the new developments on antibacterial, biocide and antifouling coatings for biomedical purposes; the CPT researcher Beatriz Garrido spoke on caracterization of PEEK coatings and bioactive glass under the title Caracterización de recubrimientos de PEEK y vidrio bioactivo obtenidos por proyección fría. Also we counted on Dr. Enrique Sánchez and Eugeni Cañas‘ contribution (ITC-UJI) with their papers called Incorporación de aerogel de sílice en recubrimientos de circona obtenidos por proyección térmica de plasma and Obtención de recubrimientos de circón mediante proyección térmica por plasma a partir de suspensiones, respectively. Moreover, in the SECV Congress a CPT poster was exhibited, Functionalization of polymeric surfaces with TiO2 nanoparticles by Cold Spray (Gavieiro, N.; Dosta, S.; Fernández, J.; Cano, I.G.).
The Thermal Spray Technology simposium, sponsored by IESMAT, was celebrated within the framework of LVI Congreso Nacional de la SECV (LVI SECV National Congress), celebrated in Castellón (Spain) on 26th to 29th of October 2020 and organized by Universitat Jaume I, the Ceramic Technology Institute (ITC-UJI), as well as Sociedad Española de Cerámica y Vidrio (Ceramics and Glass Spanish Society), a non-profitable society with more than 50 years of history in Spain.
