Thermal Spray Center is a research center from Universitat de Barcelona specialized since 1994 within the field of Surface Engineering. Due to its multidisciplinary staff, CPT can solve any problem in the field of Science and Technology Materials.
With a large expertise within the surface engineering field, CPT is a Centre of Excellence of the Research Support Network (TECNIO) of the Autonomous Government of Catalonia. CPT is the only center in Spain fully dedicated to the research, development and innovation of coatings within the Thermal Spray Technologies. CPT is Member of the Barcelona Knowledge Campus as the Best Campus of International Excellence in Spain.
CPT was born with a clear mission: to provide solutions to the challenges of surfaces in processes and products, and to be recognized worldwide by the industrial and academic communities as an R+D reference center within the thermal spraying technologies field. Since its inception, the CPT has had the support of Carburos Metálicos, from the Air Products group, a leading company in the industrial gases sector that is committed to advances in R+D+i.
In its Innovation Process, the CPT has three divisions: CPT-Business (headquarter inside Physics and Chemistry & Engineering Faculty of UB), CPT-Bio (inside HUB Excellence International Campus), focused on the design and development of coatings for biomedical applications, and CPT-Energy (inside BKC Excellence International Campus), focused on giving solutions to the renewable energy sector.
During more than 20 years, CPT has been well-established within the thermal spray technologies market as a high quality R+D agent provider. As a proof of this, nowadays, CPT is the organizer of the unique school worldwide held in Barcelona and focused on Cold Spray Technologies: “CGS Summer School”, training certified by the European Thermal Spray Association.
