Last 18th June, the CPT Technical Manager Dr. Sergi Dosta took part in a Virtual Preview Session of the ITSC 2021, entitled Coatings for Anti-Virus, Bacteria and Fungus Applications, where several experts held a discussion regarding how thermal spray applications can be used to deposit antimicrobial compounds on different types of high-touch surfaces. Under the name of Different approaches for producing biocide coatings at CPT, Dr. Dosta explained how CPT has been focused in the development of new bioactive coatings, but also has put effort in the development of coatings showing antibacterial, biocide and antifouling properties, in order to fullfill the needs of biomedical or marine sectors.
Between the speakers, the virtual conference counted on the participation of Dr. Christopher Berndt (SEAM, Swinburne University of Technology), Dr. Hua Li ( Ningbo Institute of Materials Technology and Engineering of Chinese Academy of Sciences), Dr. Javad Mostaghimi (Centre for Advanced Coating Technologies, University of Toronto), and Dr. Federico Rosei (University of Québec).
The ITSC 2021 Preview: Virtual Session, co-located with Aeromat 21 (32nd Conference and Exposition), has been organized by the Thermal Spray Society (TSS, ASM International), the German Welding Society (DVS), and the International Institute of Welding (IIW).
